Part of the collection: Postcards
The postcard was published in ca. 1930 by Aleksander Chmiel, community activist from Łańcut, the owner of the Bławat textile shop. The postcards published by Chmiel were made in a characteristic sepia tone and showcased the key buildings in the city, including the parish church of St Stanislaus the Bishop and Martyr, which in 1896-1900 was comprehensively overhauled according to the design by Teodor Talowski. The works carried out at that time were commissioned by Elżbieta and Roman Potocki, as well as the parish priest, Fr. Emil Zauderer. These efforts resulted in building an eclectic temple with prominent neo-Gothic features. The postcard depicts the church from the eastern side with a view of the transept with polygonal apses and a presbytery the width of the nave with the Potocki family crypt in the basement. On both sides of the presbytery there are two-storey annexes – the treasury and the sacristy to the north, and the patrons’ lodge to the south, on the top floor. From the front one can see a fragment of the tower erected according to the design by Dionizy Krzyczkowski who cooperated with Talowski. It was built on a square plan, covered with a pyramidal cupola and flanked with stair turrets leading to the choir, with an antechapel on the ground floor. Joanna Kluz
