Part of the collection: Correspondence from Emilia Endler Ratz
The letter from Emilia Ratz to Halina Altman on two ruled cards; the back card served as address space after the cards were closed in a triangle, postmarks visible. From the contents: With us the repatriation action has not yet started, I am already beginning to doubt about leaving until winter. I am still trying to write to the P.P.R. about being accepted. Tomorrow I will write a CV and send it. On the question of individual departures, the P.P.R. replies in the negative, on the contrary, it urges all members and sympathisers not to leave their areas and to return with others. [I had one letter from Celina, but at present she has certainly given birth to bebi and has no head for writing. [There's less work here now, due to the removal of some of the war industry buildings. And so one has become quite lazy. I read at work frequently and generally. [...] Dear Halik! I'd very much like to ask you, if you have any possibilities[i], but you're here, to find out about my family. You once wrote about Mietek Endler, who was in the army, maybe he knows about someone. I wrote to Warsaw in February to an old address (funny, isn't it?) and received [a] letter back saying the house burned down, but nothing about people. Don't be surprised, I know they are dead, but I want some more precise sign, at least a trace, at least a direction, where they died, and you can guess how. Yes, you have to finish these memories. | How do you think, will we have the opportunity to stay in central Poland, if only [from] the beginning in Krakow, especially since Marcin's flat is certainly whole.
