Part of the collection: Orient
Ovoid faïence flacon. Decoration applied in gold and multicoloured paints on a cream background with craquelure (deliberately made decorative cracks) depicts flowers and butterflies. At the base a strip with a meander pattern, on the shoulders a dense colourful floral pattern. A typical asymmetrical composition was used with many empty spaces and an accumulation of floral patterns on one side. The Satsuma-style flacon comes from Japan and dates to the second quarter of the 20th century.
