A pair of shallow slippers in lilac light satin, embroidered on the front with silver thread. Shoes on a fairly high comfortable French heel, trimmed with gold fabric. Low heel, soles made of very thin leather in natural colour, strongly elongated toes. Slippers are decorated with silver thread on the toes – purl embroidery. The entire front is filled with an embroidered rose and buds symmetrically placed on leafy stems. Lined inside with soft leather sole, white linen lining at toes. Edges reinforced with ribbon. Both slippers stamped with the manufacturer’s trademark in gold, with the coat of arms of Great Britain, the coat of arms is held by a lion and a unicorn, there is also an arched inscription and the address of the maker. The inscription says: ‘LAGEER – MEIER’, below: ‘352 Rue St Honore’, at the very bottom: ‘PARIS’; on the right the Russian coat of arms – a double-headed eagle with crowns, holding in its talons an apple and a sceptre, on the eagle’s breast a shield with Saint George slaying the dragon. The materials used are satin, purl embroidery, made in France by LAGEL MEIER 352 Rue, St Honore, Paris, late 19th c.
