Władysław Hieronim Sanguszko Władysław Hieronim Sanguszko (1803–1870) was the son of Eustachy and Klementyna née Czartoryska. In 1829 he married his cousin Izabela, daughter of Henryk Lubomirski of Przeworsk. He owned vast estates in Volhynia and Galicia, and lived in the estate near Gumniska, famous for the stud farm. He took part in public life as a member of the National Sejm (Parliament), a member of the House of Lords and an imperial secret counsellor. He was related to the family of Potocki from Łańcut. The daughter of his younger brother Roman, Maria Klementyna, got married in 1851 with Alfred Potocki of Łańcut, the later Second Entailer. The marble bust of Sanguszko was made by Henryk Antoni Stattler (1834–1877) in Rome in 1853. He was the son and pupil of painter Wojciech Korneli Stattler from Kraków and Klementyna née Zerboni from Italy. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Kraków and at the Academy of St Luke in Rome, where he later on established a sculpture studio. His clients were mainly members of the Polish aristocracy residing in the city. The bust depicts Sanguszko as a mature man, en face, bald from the forehead. He has an oval, slim face, with a high, accentuated forehead, slightly sunken cheeks, a moustache, and framed by sideburns. The eyeballs are smooth, set in deep eye sockets. Curly strands of hair are combed to the front. The bust is stylised in the spirit of Antiquity. The torso of the portrayed man is naked, massive, bevelled at the sides, chamfered high in front.
