Part of the collection: Memorabilia of Emilia Leibel née Grossbart
The photograph from the school days of Emilia Grossbart. Perhaps it was a photograph taken by a friend as a souvenir. Teenage Emilia Grossbart stands in front of the lens - in a forest or park, by birches, at a crossroads; she has short (behind the ears) wavy hair, a blouse, a dark skirt above the knees, and light tights. Her hands arefolded on the back. On the obverse, in the lower right corner, is an annual date, on the reverse of the photo there is a handwritten dedication partly in Latin - from a friend who may have taken the photo? [In] June 1928. | Have a nice friend pro aeterna | rerum memoriam [as an eternal remembrance] | L.B.
The photo was stuck to a dark card, probably in an album.
“Those were the bad years […] there were difficulties with paying for school […]. My father had no right to know that I was tutoring […]. Because that would be the worst affront for him ”(from Maria Kłańska's interview Wspomnienia Żydówki krakowskiej [Memories of a Jewish Woman from Kraków], Kraków 2010, pp. 50–51).
