The rectangular painting depicts a portrait of a young man on a prancing horse against a landscape background. The portrayed man sits on an Arabian horse. The man holds the reins in his left hand. The portrayed person is Ignacy Potocki, born on 28 February 1750 in Radzyń Podlaski, died on 30 August 1809 in Vienna. Son of Eustachy, colonel in the Crown army, and Marianna Kątska, brother of Stanisław Kostka Potocki. The colours of the painting are bright, with predominant blue, brown and green hues. The painting is lit from the left. On the horseback, there is a rich trapping: a pillion with a saddle pad with silver chapes and red tassels. The man has an oval face. On his head, he is wearing a blue calpack decorated with brown fur. The man is wearing a dark blue stylised chamarre and a brown fur burqa on his shoulders and back. On his feet, he has navy blue trousers and tall black boots. At the rider's right side, there is a riding crop. Almost half of the painting height is taken up by blue sky covered with white and grey pink clouds. At the foot of the hill in the background, there are white buildings with a tower covered by a red pointed cupola. The painting is made on canvas in oil and was created in the 1st half of 19th century. It was acquired from the Potocki family in 1944.
