Single Layer Sponge Cake Tin

Part of the collection: Metals

Popularization note

Single Layer Sponge Cake Tin A large cake tin for a single layer of sponge cake made of copper sheet, from the 19th century, deriving from the Potocki collection. The utensil has the shape of a low cylinder with a rounded bottom edge. At the upper edge of the vessel, there is a rectangular patch riveted with two rivets and above it, a handle in the shape of a loop, made of copper wire. The “R P” letters are imprinted on the side, between the Pilawa coat of arms; the inscription “LANCUT” is placed below. The cake tin was tinned inside. The discussed cake tin is exhibited in the Eastern Corridor on the second floor, together with other vessels made of copper, which predominantly constitute remnants after the no longer existing castle kitchens.
