Card with photos of the Castle and Orangery

Three-image post card with a message on the reverse, issued before 1905. It depicts the following: a fragment of the main (western) façade of the castle, the Orangery and the Italian Garden. The classic revival Orangery was erected in the years 1799-1802 according to designs by Christian Piotr Aigner and decorated with moulding by Fryderyk Bauman. Its photograph was taken from the south-eastern side, with a view of a stone foot bridge built in the beginning of the 20th century at the site of the former fig house. In front of the Orangery, we see the Rose Garden created during works conducted under the management of the third ordinary, count Roman Potocki and his wife Elisabeth, in 1889-1912. At this time, the Italian Garden was also created, the background of which is made up of the eastern castle façade. It was designed by the Genovese architect and graphical designer Albert Pio. The garden is concave in form, akin to a Roman hippodrome. It is decorated by two fountains in round basins as well as sculptures brought from Rome by count Roman Potocki towards the end of the 19th century – a Napoleonic Eagle and a Bacchus on a panther.
