Part of the collection: Zuzanna Kofta's works inspired by stories of hiding Jews
The depiction of a woman as seen from behind. She is standing to the left of the window with a curtain or a curtain with tassels at the bottom, hanging from a thick curtain rod. The woman has her hair pinned up on top of her head and is wearing a sleeveless black blouse. She is facing the window, with her hands folded below her back. This is an image of one of the Jewish women hidden by the Ciszewski family in Stanisławów, looking out the curtained window to see if anyone is approaching. The image was used as a montage in an account by Ryszard Ciszewski, whose mother Janina hid eleven people in their house in Stanisławów for two years. The family was kept in one of the rooms. One person was always on duty at the window with a curtain, looking out onto the street, and if a passer-by was spotted, she would keep everyone quiet. The story of hiding: https://sprawiedliwi.org.pl/en/stories-of-rescue/story-rescue-ciszewski-family
