Museum of the history of Polish Jews
The collection of seventeen works inspired by stories of hiding Jews on Polish territory during the war. Zuzanna Kofta (graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts) painted them for a museum project - montages of film notations with stories of the Righteous. She created monochromatic, sparse compositions consisting mostly of a small number of elements: representations of people and objects. By painting them mostly with a thick brush and using ostentatiously schematic solutions, the artist seems to have alluded to children's perspective and means of expression (most of the people filmed were children during the war). At the same time, the blurring of the faces of the people depicted (lack of detail) seems to suggest the work of memory - in which the details of the face are often lost, what remains is mainly general recollection, especially of emotions.
