Popularization note

Wooden bowl made of turned wood, tall, covered with polished lac, sprayed with gold powder. On the inside covered with lacquer with marbled pattern in three shades of red, on the outside painted with polished black kuro-urush lac. At the spout, decorated with a wide golden floral garland composed of small trifoliate leaves, grapevine and an eight-leaf rosette. The ornament is rhythmically arranged. It forms a tea set with a saucer, inv. no. S.2372MŁ. Japan, Edo, 17th/18th century.
