Hanging neo-rococo clock

Part of the collection: Clocks

Popularization note

Hanging neo-rococo clock with an alarm and repeater. The case of the clock is rectangular. The corners of the front wall are decorated with repoussé brass plate with a neo-rococo shell motif; the other walls are smooth, unadorned. At the top of the mechanism's casing, there is a genre scene showing two reclining figures: a man playing the lute and a woman gazing at him. Both are surrounded by a floral ornament in a triangular composition. The clock has a white, round enamelled dial with Roman numerals for the hours and a signature "Cartier a Corbeny". At the bottom of the clock box hangs a large pendulum made of wood, finished with a metal circle, as well as two cylindrical weights mounted on hooks; next to them, are two metal chains. At the back, behind the crowning, there is the alarm clock mechanism shaped like a mushroom with a small hammer. Currently, the clock is located on the second floor, in the servant's room.
