Cabinet photograph of the Maybaums (Marzynskis)
c. 1914
Museum of the history of Polish Jews
Part of the collection: Photographs from the collection of Halina Kamińska (Mamelok) née Baruch
The group photograph showing nine people on a staircase with a magnificent balustrade and a bench under the stairs. In the middle, we can see Stanisław Maybaum (Marzyński), the same age as in the previous photo in the collection, wearing the same sailor's uniform. Thereby, it is possible to date the photograph, consistent with the accepted dating of that one. All the other photographed people (three men, four women and a girl) are unrecognisable; perhaps they were the Maybaums' (Marzyński's) roommates during their holidays, at the hotel or guesthouse where the photograph was probably taken. The photograph was probably taken in Opatija (Italian: Abbazia), just like the previous one, although, as can be seen from the print on the back of the photograph, Jelussich's photographic workshop had several branches on the Croatian coast.
