Fireplace brush

Part of the collection: Metals

Popularization note

Fireplace brush, a piece of fireplace utensils, made of gilded bronze, wood and trichina, from the 18th century, from the Poroccy collection. The handle is long, six-sided, made of wood, widening upwards and ending with a ball. The handle is partly clad in leather. Below, the handle becomes the brush housing, richly decorated, of gilded bronze, sides arranged as triple leaves. The entire item has rococo ornamentation. The component binding the handle with the brush housing is the ornament of leaves arranged as a blossom. The housing encompasses the trichina. The brush adorns the fireplace in the Rococo Chamber, on the first floor of the castle.
