Part of the collection: Malarstwo i rysunek
The rectangular painting depicts a portrait of a middle-aged man. He is Jozef Klemens Czartoryski, Grand Hetman of the Crown. Józef Klemens Czartoryski (1740–1810), son of Stanisław Kostka Czartoryski and Anna Józefa Czartoryska, née Rybińska, was the most prominent representative of his family from the so-called Korecki lineage. The colours of the painting are dark with predominant olive green and grey hues. The man has long hair which is, obviously, a wig falling down his back. He is wearing a steel armour of the Western European type. He has a white scarf under his neck. A blue order ribbon runs across his right shoulder (although the order is not visible). The picture was painted on canvas with oil paints. It was made in 18th century. It was acquired from the Potocki family in 1944.
