King David

Popularization note

A synthetic presentation of a figure composed of round, geometrical forms, sitting on a wooden pedestal. King Solomon, son of king David, the builder of the Temple whose story was recorded in the Book of 1 Kings. Made of steel sheets, rods, wood and glass, the sculpture is a testimony to Szwarc’s experiments with form after World War II. The seemingly random usage of pieces of wood, steel sheet, wire and glass, creates a monumental though disturbing symbolic depiction of king Solomon’s majesty.RP
