Józef Sonntag, Alfred and Adam Potocki, 1828 Painting depicting Alfred and Adam Potocki, one of several such portraits known to researchers. In this pastel painting we can see figures of the two boys mentioned above in blue tunics, girded with red belt, wearing long white trousers and black varnished shoes. Two red handbags serve as additional accessories. Adam Potocki additionally wore a white ruff around his neck. Alfred and Adam Potocki were born in Łańcut in 1822, only a few months apart. Although Adam’s parents owned palaces in Krzeszowice and Krakow, the boy spent his youthful years in the castle in Łańcut. We known that Alfred and Adam were very close to each other and were friends. The boys were portrayed together by Jan Nepomucen Ender and Wojciech Korneli Stattler. In later years, Adam Potocki repeatedly returned to Łańcut, which he considered his second home. Both are in adulthood. Józef Sonntag portrayed Alfred and Adam Potocki on two other paintings.
