Cabinet clock
19th (?) century
Castle Museum in Łańcut
Part of the collection: Clocks
Mantel clock made of wood, classicist, with a mythological theme. It is a rather modest example both in terms of decoration and clockwork. It was decorated with a fully plastically modelled figurine of a winged genius with fabric draped around him. The genius, in Roman mythology, was a mortal demigod, who bestowed fertility on men, guided their destiny and brought them luck. The figure is supported on a round case containing the clockwork. The dial is made of brass, polished, and enamelled with black Arabic numerals. Indications of hours and days in two rings. Three holes for winding keys in the dial. The base consists of a pedestal on four zoomorphic legs. Dial set on sculpted supports shaped like a concertinaed ribbon. At the bottom, a visible pendulum with a stylised depiction of the sun. The presented clock was purchased for the Łańcut Museum-Castle collection and is currently located in the Column Salon.
