Part of the collection: Malarstwo i rysunek
Portrait – caricature, Montmorency, made as pencil drawing on paper, in 1883 by M. E. Androlli (1836–1893). The painting is framed in a passepartout with a rectangular light and a wooden glazed frame, profiled, gilded at the inner edge. The graphic form is built in a value-based way, with a line of varying thickness and intensity, with great technical proficiency. A man with a mature face, with a high forehead below short, tousled hair, is shown in a bust, in the left profile, in a frock coat and a high-buttoned shirt, with his beauty defects ahown in a ruthless way. Underneath the drawing there is a pencil inscription with the signature: "Androlli 1883. Montmorency". The certainty and ease of depiction, visible in the caricatured drawing, testifies to the painter's high technical qualifications.
