Roasting tin made of copper sheet, from the collection of the Potocki family, dates back to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. A roasting tin in the shape of a narrow, elongated cuboid with rounded shorter sides. It consists of a main vessel (with traces of tinning inside), a lid and an openwork insert. The roasting tin was used for preparing whole fishes. At the shorter sides, two riveted bail handles. The top edge of the dish is turned outwards to form a roll. The lid is shaped to fit the vessel, with a bowed flat handle in the middle. Inside the roasting tin, a perforated insert with handles at the shorter sides. On the longer side of the vessel and the lid are stamped the letters “R.P.” and the numeral “14” under the count crown (these are the initials of Roman Potocki, the Third Entailer of Łańcut). Roman Alfred Maria Potocki (born in December 1851 in Łańcut, died in September 1915 in Łańcut), statesman and politician, was a deputy to the Galician Sejm, decorated with the Papal Order of Saint Gregory the Great (1900) and the Spanish Order of Charles III (1906), as well as the Order of the Golden Fleece (1906). Thanks to his second marriage (his first wife died young) with Elżbieta Radziwiłł, from the Berlin line, he became acquainted with almost all the ruling houses of Europe of his time and was one of the richest landowners in Galicia. The most important achievement of Roman and Elżbieta Potocki was commissioning the modernisation and partial reconstruction of the Łańcut Castle at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The roasting tin in question is exhibited in the Eastern Corridor of the second floor, where copper wares (vessels), which are mainly the remains of the castle kitchens that have not been preserved, are gathered.
