Part of the collection: Vehicles and harnesses

Popularization note

Court carriage for independent driving by the owner, for two horses, from the first quarter of the 20th century; a vehicle from the collection of close to 100 horse-drawn vehicles collected by the Łańcut museum, still open. It includes vehicles ranging from representative to rural ones, from the eighteenth all the way to the 20th century. They are mainly the result of museum purchases; only very few ones were donated. Already belonging to the museum, the majority underwent general renovations or refurbishments. This court carriage only underwent general maintenance works at the Łańcut Castle Museum. It was purchased for the museum in 1995. It is a type of spring-mounted, leisure carriage for excursions, in natural wood colours, with two double seats, almost identical, one in front of the other – upholstered, and with carriage-style back rests. At the sides of the front seat there are grips for mounting lanterns, which have not survived, and a crank of a manual block brake. The front cover, or mudguard, is simple, with two flat panels; the side fans are bent to shape, at the centre broken, connected by a steel step suspended on a long rod at the foot rest.
