Part of the collection: Vehicles and harnesses
Horse-drawn farmer carriage for four people, originating from the area of Leżajsk. It belongs to the collection of nearly 100 horse-drawn vehicles, gathered by the museum in Łańcut and constantly enriched. It includes vehicles of different kind, from presentable to rustic, from 18th to 20th century. They come primarily from museum purchases; only a few were donated. Most of them have undergone general conservation or restoration, already when belonging to the museum’s collection. The farmer carriage, which the museum bought in 1980, underwent general renovation in the Bogajewicz family carriage workshop in Pniewy. The carriage has the natural colour of wood, it is designed for one horse or two-horse team, with spring system consisting of longitudinal, flat, triple wooden wide planks called “legajzy”; it has a flat box body with one wide seat with a mattress (for four people to sit dos-à-dos), it has wooden long side mudguards near the seat with railings made of bars and along the box, while in front there is one simple mudguard. Rear wall of the box is hinged, it has an iron step on an extension below. Wooden parts with curled spots, metal parts lacquered, black. Aldona Cholewianka-Kruszyńska
