The beer bottle was found in the basement of one of the townhouses on Panieńska Street in Szczecin, destroyed during the war in one of the air raids on the city. In 1996 it was excavated during archaeological survey carried out by the directed by the Archaeological and Monument Conservation Laboratory in Szczecin. The artefact was made by Bohrisch Brauerei A.G. – one of the first and biggest breweries in Szczecin established in 1848 at Pommerensdorferstrasse 16 (currently Chmielewskiego Street), leading the local brewing market for many years. The growth of the brewery was stifled only by the outbreak of World War I, which led to a significant drop in the quantity and quality of the beverages. The brewery managed to weather the crisis that came on the heels of the war. A merger with the Ferdinand Rückforth Nachfolger A.G company in 1920 led to an expansion of the plant, as well as for a wider promotion of the Bohrisch brand. It was promoted with three rings added to the necks of the bottles, which could be felt under one's fingers. This solution was requested by the Association of Visually Disabled Veterans, who deemed it useful and particularly helpful to blinded war veterans. These bottles quickly became the hallmark of the company, which operated continuously until January 1945.
