Part of the collection: Zuzanna Kofta's works inspired by stories of hiding Jews
The depiction of the episode of Mira Krum being taken to her knees by a German soldier who lived in the house of Antonina Działoszyńska, who was hiding the Jewish girl Mira and her mother Adela Krum.
Lines and spots suggesting elements of the figure's face - blurred. The depiction is quite detailed as far as the elements of clothing are concerned, despite the conventionality and schematic character of the representation (the composition was apparently executed with a rather thick brush); the cut of the man's coat, the collar, the cuff of the left sleeve, the left breast pocket, the braces of the girl's dark dress, and the bows in her braids are clearly visible. The image was used as an edited cut in Mira Ledowski-Krum's account. From her account: I'm sitting like this on this knee, he embraces me and says that he also has such a daughter in Vienna [...]. And she also has braids. [...] And he asked me something. And I answered in Jewish. And it was terrible. Because then he took me off his lap, sat down and went to his room. And my mother, without raising her head, says to me like this: Apparently he went for a revolver, for a gun, but we have no chance to escape anyway, so let's keep calm. And after quite a long time, which was horrible, because I was already 6 years old, I understood that I'm to blame for mum's death, my [...] - he comes out with a white envelope [...] and says: You know, here is a letter to my wife, if the Germans catch you and take you to Vienna, I ask her to take care of you .
