The biscuit figurine of a young man playing Figaro from the comedy The Marriage of Figaro by Pierre Beaumarchais. The actor is kneeling on his left knee, resting the songbook in his left hand on his right knee. He raises his head upwards. His right hand, bent at the elbow, is stretched forward to the rhythm of the sung melody. He has a guitar slung over his shoulder. He is dressed in a costume from the second half of the 18th century: a shirt, a waistcoat, a kaftan, knee-length trousers, and a hat on his head. A scarf is tied under the open collar of his shirt. The statue is placed in a cuboidal case with glazed walls in brown frames, with a wooden plinth painted brown and decorated with classical bronze ornaments. The bisque was made in the porcelain manufactory in Sèvres, which was famous for its bisque art, mainly for its figurines, which were of high artistic quality. It is dated after 1778 (The Marriage of Figaro was written in the same year). Its modeller was Joseph Le Riche, employed at the porcelain manufactory in Sévres from 1757, being a master modeller from 1780. The object comes from the collection of Princess Izabela Lubomirska (1736-1816), the owner of the Łańcut Castle. Barbara Trojnar
